Formatter API

The browser tools solve the ad-hoc case: you have something unreadable and you need it readable now. They do not help when the work is automated. This is the other half.

What it would be

A keyed HTTP API running the same formatting, conversion, and validation engines as the site, for the places a browser cannot go: a CI step that fails a build on malformed YAML, a data pipeline normalizing JSON, a backend that needs SQL formatted without bundling a parser.

Why it is a waitlist and not a product

Because building it means running servers, and running servers is the thing this project has deliberately avoided. That is a real tradeoff, so it is worth confirming the demand is real before making it. If enough people want this, it gets built. If not, it does not, and the free tools stay exactly as they are either way.

What stays free, regardless

Every tool on this site. The API would be a separate product for a separate job. Nothing currently free becomes paid, and nothing gets rate-limited behind a signup.
